Edward “Butch” J. Syrek, Jr., 73, of Manchester, NH, died July 24, 2012, at Catholic Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Born in Goffstown, NH, he was the son of Edward J. and Mary (Pinkham) Syrek, Sr.
He resided in Manchester most of his life before moving to Hooksett twenty years ago. He attended Manchester schools.
Mr. Syrek served with Army National Guard.
Until his retirement in 1999, he worked for the City of Manchester Highway Department for forty-two years.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was avid hunter and sports fan who especially enjoyed the Boston Red Sox.
Family members include his wife of thirty-five years, Ruth A. (Collette) Syrek of Hooksett, two daughters, Judith E. Dow and her husband, Walter “Ted”, of North Port, FL, Robyn Syrek of Deerfield; three sons, Edward J. Syrek, III and his wife, Denise, of Manchester; Timothy Syrek of Salt Springs, FL and David Syrek of Candia; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley Syrek and John Syrek both of Manchester; two sisters, Kathleen Robinson and Mary Syrek both of Manchester; many nieces and nephews . He was predeceased by two sisters, Constance and Judith.
Services: Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, corner of Concord Street, Manchester.
Funeral services are private.
Burial will take place in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH.
